A Modern Look On Mosaics

Mosaics have been a popular art form in several cultures around the world. From the 3rd millennium BC, mosaics have impressively conquered their space into the contemporary art and design landscape and have become synonymous of sophistication and uniqueness.

what is a mosaic?

A mosaic is a surface decoration composed from the assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. Most mosaics are small, flat, cut into squares or shaped using special tools.

Mosaics come in a variety of sizes, textures, and colors. They are durable, beautiful and can offer an eye-catching approach to interior design.

While many still think of mosaic as ancient art form, the reality is that mosaics can have a contemporary, functional and impressively modern look. They can be applied to every room in your house, adding texture and color to each space.

How delightful is this ombre mosaic that traces Billie Holiday’s melodic vocalizations along a wave of vibrant colored glass?

We also love the futuristic atmosphere of this mosaic that spins a classic pattern on its axis, layering beautifully crafted glass wheels.

Same feelings for this lotus flower mosaic. The ancient Egyptian symbol of rebirth was beautifully rendered in Luxor.  The pattern is drawn in tesserae mosaics across a smooth background of waterjet cut marble, melding old-world technique with modern technology in a pattern that's utterly timeless.

Mosaics can add that extra touch of uniqueness to an interior, in a new, contemporary and modern interpretation.

Just like pieces of modern art, Mosaics are original, beautiful and captivating.
